Kaylene Ball is a proud Zenadth Kes and Wuthathi woman with strong ties to the Torres Strait and Cape York. Born and raised on Thursday Island, she brings a diverse career spanning finance, government, and the not-for-profit sector.
She began her career in financial planning as a paraplanner and went on to become a qualified Financial Adviser. After more than a decade in the not-for-profit sector, Kaylene transitioned into government, joining the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and undertaking a secondment with the Attorney-General’s Department in the Criminal Taskforce. In this role, she led justice reinvestment work with Commonwealth-funded communities.
This experience led to her appointment as National Coordinator of Justice Reinvestment Network Australia (JRNA), where she played a key role in establishing and growing the organisation, working closely with communities, stakeholders, and partners, including the Paul Ramsay Foundation.
Kaylene is currently completing a Bachelor of Justice (Criminology and Violence Prevention) at QUT. Outside of work, she enjoys staying active at the gym and cheering on her boys at their sporting events.
